For Claire Lambert, a senior majoring in English with a minor in Graphic Design, storytelling is at the heart of everything she does. Whether through words or illustrations, Claire has a deep passion for bringing stories to life—both on the page and in the communities she calls home. Originally from Goreville, IL, she envisions a future as both an author and illustrator, using her creative talents to craft meaningful narratives that inspire and connect with others.
Claire’s journey at Wesley began last spring when she met Ariana, Garrett, and several other welcoming members of the community. Their kindness and openness drew her into a space where faith and friendship are deeply intertwined. "I was drawn to this space of spiritual collaboration and kindness," Claire shares. "I needed a fresh perspective. I was raised in the Community of Christ denomination but thanks to the support of my family, I came to understand that there are many forms of worship that speak to me. This community really helped me develop my understanding of Christianity and compassion as a whole.”
Through Wesley, Claire has found a space where she can explore faith in a way that feels both genuine and liberating. The Midweek gatherings, in particular, have been a grounding force in her life, offering a much-needed break from the pressures of academic life. "Investing in these connections helps with the academic stress and loneliness," she explains. "I think we’ve grown more because we try to make sure everyone who is spiritually or physically hungry has a place at the table. Everyone is invited to share their experiences, thoughts, and feelings in a safe space. We try our best to make everyone feel heard and loved."
Looking ahead, Claire hopes the welcoming spirit of Wesley continues to thrive, with future members stepping up to contribute and build upon the legacy of inclusion and support. As she balances her academic studies with her creative pursuits, she remains grateful for the friendships and faith-filled experiences she has found at Wesley. With her passion for storytelling and her heart for community, there’s no doubt Claire will continue to create meaningful connections—both in her art and in the lives of those around her.
