If you prefer to sign-up in a non-electronic format, a sign-up sheet should be available at the back of the sanctuary after every Sunday church service.

In order to automate the process of signing-up to volunteer, we now have an online sign-up form, which is listed below. You can find helpful instructions below, both for returning volunteers and new volunteers.

How do I get to the sign-up form?

You should have received an email from cs@editgrid.com indicating that you can get to the sign-up form, and in that email you should find a link to said volunteer sign-up page. The relevant part of the message should say something like:

You can access the spreadsheet anywhere on a browser with Internet connection using the following secure and private URL:

http://www.editgrid.com/user/dcmertens/Wesley_Food_Pantry...

Follow that link to get to the volunteer sign-up page.

How do I sign-up for a time slot?

Once you have made your way to the sign-up page (see explanation above) you are free to sign-up for any open slots, which you do by typing your name into an empty, white box. If you are unsure about what a given task entails, you can find descriptions of each task by hovering your mouse over the column header. Grayed-out time slots are not available.

Something came up and I can't make it! What do I do?

If you've already signed up to volunteer but find that you cannot make it to the food pantry, you need to find a sub. To do this, go to the sign-up form (discussed above) and look for the tab at the bottom of the page called "Contacts", where you will find contact information for individuals who have or are going to volunteer. Next, try to find volunteers who are not signed-up for this month and contact them to see if they can cover for you. Once you have found a sub, be sure that one of you updates the Signup Form with the new name.

I can't always get to my email. (It's in Outlook, which is at work/home and I'm at home/work.) Is there another way for me to sign-in?

If you know that you will want to sign-up when you are away from your email, you can create an account at editgrid.com. To do this, visit the editgrid personal signup page and as you fill out the form be sure to use the email we used to contact you. Once you have signed up, you can visit directly the food pantry's sign-up form, where you will be asked to log-in.

I would like to volunteer! What do I need to do?

If you have never volunteered before, you will need to do three things:

Get permission to sign-up by sending an email to pantryvol@wesleyui.org with subject "New Food Pantry Volunteer". In the body of your email, include your name and phone number. We need this so we can add you to the list of volunteers.
You will receive an email from editgrid telling you that you can edit the spreadsheet. Follow that link to the sign-up form and sign-up for a time slot. If the layout seems confusing, you should read the instructions for signing-up. Be sure to check your spam folder if you don't get a response within a day or so.
Attend the new-volunteer training, which occurs on the second Thursday of every month (the Thursday prior to the food pantry) at 5:30 pm in the Conference Room.

When is new volunteer training?

New volunteer training occurrs the Thursday one week prior to the food pantry at 5:30 pm. Meet in the conference room.

I never got a response.

If you have not gotten any email response within about a day, check your spam folder for a message sent from cs@editgrid.com. Contact us at pantryvol@wesleyui.org if you cannot find that email.
